     The goal for this year was to try something new as well as hopefully gain a tomato with a lower acid content. That lead me to grow the Lemon Boy F-1 Hybrid Variety of tomato. Some sites or companies may be advertising them as Heirlooms, but they are not an open-pollenated tomato. I get heartburn very badly and so I am always looking for ways to reduce that although I still love my other varieties of tomatoes. Some of the golden varieties I have tried, I have found to be lacking in flavor, but I was quite surprised by these little fellows, however, they aren't that small.

     They produce a nice round fruit that is lemon-yellow in color (not gold), which grow in clusters. They usually weigh around 7-8 oz. but I have harvested a few that were quite a bit larger than that. They mature around 72-75 days and will be a vibrant yellow, which will turn to a more golden color the longer they are left on the vine. The trick is to pick them before they become overly mature as they have a tendacy to turn mushy. If one looks at the picture, some of them were picked a little later than usual, although they weren't mushy, they were a more "golden" color than the others that weren't as mature.
